Food- Enjoyed the Detroit style pizza and mozzarella sticks. I have also had the chicken crunchers at another location. The pizza is good, even though Detroit style is not my preference, I eat a lot of pizza so it was a good change of pace. The crust is by far the best part so go for the corner slices first. The mozzarella sticks weren't anything special but good (far overpriced at $15). However, the chicken crunchers are excellent. I highly recommend them as a starter. There are a lot of them so they could be shared by a group or eaten as a meal.
Drinks- The Old Rodriguez is a spin on an old fashioned with a hint of mint. It was very good. I also tasted the skinny Margherita. It wasn't anything special but they have a full bar so Im sure they are able to make good drinks.
Vibe- I visited on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was dead except for a few families with screaming kids. The setting is nice for a date but on this evening I just caught it at a weird time. Screaming kids, though annoying, don't bother me as I know that was me not so long ago.
Parking- Plaza Midwood has plenty of street parking as well as parking lots you can utilize with a little research or local knowledge.
Recommendation- This is a fun spot, I imagine the vibe is different on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday after 8. They have candles on the table that they light after dark. Either way, the pizza is good and that's what you come for - Detroit style is definitely different so have an open mind if its your first time. My personal recommendation is a date spot for a casual weeknight. With plenty of places within walking distance to grab a post dinner drink. There are both dive bars and upscale cocktail spots depending on the vibe the night is taking.
